Choosing the Right Waterfall Pump for Your Floor Fountains

Indoor fountains are beautiful, but the more you turn them on and off, the quicker the pump is going to wear out. If you're in the market for a new waterfall pump, the task can be daunting. There are so many to choose from, all with different specs and descriptions. Follow these tips to make the process a little easier:

  • If you have an outdoor pump, look for pumps with a “WT” model number. This means they’re rated for both indoor and outdoor use. Look for the switch. Some pumps have a cord that needs to be unplugged in order to turn the fountain off, and others have an on/off switch on the cord itself. For convenience sake, choose the one best for you.
  • How much water flow do you need for your floor fountains or indoor fountains? When looking for a new waterfall pump, check out the specs and look for the GPH (gallons per hour) abbreviation. Lower numbers are suitable for a small indoor waterfall and higher numbers (meaning more water is pushed through the pump per hour) would be suitable for a medium to large indoor water fountain.
  • Before purchasing a waterfall pump, make sure to measure the distance from the base of the fountain (where the fountain sits) to the distribution unit. Keep in mind that at maximum height, the flow of the water isn’t as strong which means you’ll need to purchase a pump that has a “Max Head” spec which is higher than the height you need.

When in doubt, always ask the sales associate for help. If you're shopping online at Serenity Health, you can simply call or email them with your questions. Remember, it's the waterfall pump that does the work, making your indoor fountains enjoyable. The right waterfall pump is vital to a long lasting and enjoyable water fountain experience.
